About
Me

HI!

I am Benjamin James Harrison, a graduating senior at the University of Missouri Kansas City, a cinephile, and a passionate (one might even say a good) filmmaker.

I grew up watching films. My father was a big art house film nerd, so we would always watch the films off the beaten path. Of course we would watch the classics too. But, I truly fell in love with film when I watched David Lynch’s masterpiece Blue Velvet.

In order to make my films my friends and I would get together almost every week end and with our cheap DV camcorder we would make some pretty awesome short films. At least at the time we thought they were pretty cool…

Years later I decided to major in Communications at UMKC, with an emphasis in Film and Media Arts – naturally. At UMKC I met a lot of like minded people and began my networking process. In Spring ’15 I joined the Student Film League, and now, in my final semester, I am the President of SFL.

Currently I am working as an understudy with Outpost Worldwide’s Director of Photography, Chris Durr. Learning the ins and outs of what it take to work with the camera on a professional level.

Many Thanks,

Benjamin J. Harrison

In The Near Future...

In the next month, I will have three new projects up on the site.

16mm Multisequence - An experimental short film shot entirely on 16mm with a Bolex h16. That I all I have to say about this one. Come back in a few weeks to see it!

Band-Aid Chef - A short that is totally mine. Written, directed and shot by me; this short film deals with the pitfalls of relationships heavy with neurosis.

Bitten - A non-traditional narrative that plays with the tropes of vampires as trans figures. I was the Director of Photography for this project and it has some of my most odd and interesting lighting.
